I am running user test on my website. However, i have a problem. I have a standard membership fee of $2 a day to my site, but I thought I would run a trial membership first to see if it would swap over to a standard membership fee. The trial membership fee is set for $1 and the standard membership is $2. This is the setup in Amember CP for the trial membership fee: Price * $2.00 Duration * 1 day Trial 1 Price $1.00 Trial 1 Duration 1 day Trial 2 Price NA Trial 2 Duration NA Recurring Billing (Box checked) THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS WHEN I RUN THE USER TEST. I AM GETTING THESE SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS BELOW FROM PAYPAL: Paypal's Subscription Details Subscription Received#S-11J61110 Name: John doe (This subscriber is Unverified) Subscription Date: Jun. 15, 2008 Time: 18:51:01 PDT Status: Active Next Payment Date: Jun. 17, 2008 Amount: $2.00 USD Subscription Terms: $1.00 USD for the first day Then $2.00 USD for each day Item Name: 1 day sign up offer Membership Invoice Number: 234 THE SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS ABOVE SHOW THE TEST USER IS BEING CHARGED ON JUNE 15 $1. HOWEVER, IT SKIPS JUNE 16 WHICH SHOULD BE A $2 CHARGE, AND GOES STRAIGHT TO JUNE 17 AND CHARGES A $2 FEE. BASICALLY, IT IS SKIPPING A WHOLE DAY. HOWEVER, IF I SETUP AMEMBER CP WITHOUT A TRIAL MEMBERSHIP IT WORKS CORRECTLY. IT CHARGES A STANDARD MEMBERSHIP OF $2 ON JUNE 15, $2 ON JUNE 16, AND $2 ON JUNE17. THANKS MATT
I can tell you that it does the same thing for me. It does it with monthly memberships also. The basic idea is that paypal renews the day AFTER a subscription expires. So if the person gets a 1 day trial starting on 6/19, it expires on 6/20, so it renews under the new terms on 6/21 and then charges every day. For my monthly subscriptions, say the sub goes from 5/20-6/19, paypal would renew on 6/20. I've never completely understood why they do that, but it really hasn't caused me any issues since I'm on a monthly basis. Why do you do a daily membership? It seems that the paypal per transaction fees would just kill you since they'll be taking nearly 20% of each $2 charge.
