Please help me understand how this works

    Hi everybody -

    I'm still pretty new with aMember... but learning quickly! ...hoping you can help me understand the aMember billing process.

    This is what I know:

    1.) A person signs up for membership on our site. (Let's say it's a monthly membership... renewable every month)
    2.) The credit card info is processed by (in our case) 1ShoppingCart
    3.) Credit card info is STORED by 1Shopping Cart
    4.) 1ShoppingCart sends a 'receipt' number back to aMember, which marks the person as 'paid' for the month

    (here's where I get confused)

    5.) When it comes time for RENEWAL... there's a "cron" that sweeps through aMember on an hourly basis and pulls out each member who needs to be renewed.
    6.) The "cron" tells aMember to push the renewal request to 1ShoppingCart
    7.) 1ShoppingCart bills the renewal fee, sends back a receipt, and life goes on happily.

    Is this correct?

    What happens if I need to make a change to the person's billing? (i.e. they choose to upgrade to an annual membership) Do I make that change in aMember? Will it automatically notify 1ShoppingCart when the 'cron' sees it?

    So much to learn! Please enlighten me!

    I think you were good till part 5.

    5.) When it comes time for RENEWAL...
    1sc rebills the customer and tells amember if it was successful or not.

    6) if successful amember adds another period to the users account.


    The cron auto rebill in amember is only used when the credit card is stored and billed on your system.
    In the case of 1sc- they are taking over that function.
