It's late (actually early now) and I've been migrating my dedicated hosting over to a dedicated server on Hostgator. aMember seems to work, but one problem is with protection. I get the following error messages when trying to protect a folder...

new_rewrite (RewriteRule doesn't work in .htaccess files on this server)

php_include+mod_rewrite (PHP must be compiled-in as Apache module to use this method)

php_include+auto_prepend_file (php_value auto_prepend_file directive doesn't work in .htaccess files on this server)

Can someone please point me in the proper direction for a solution? Thanks!

I contacted Hostgator and this was their reply:

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting HostGator support. We believe the reason for this is due to the different PHP Handler on your old host versus the cPanel setting. cPanel uses suPHP for security purposes, unlike mod_php like your previous host. The settings wont suPHP does not seem compatible with the script. There are two possible solutions here:

    1) Ask aMember if they can provide support for suphp based setups
    2) Compile mod_php to support that for your scripts.

Please update us on this matter and don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.

Of course, this is all Greek to me. Anyone have an idea?
