Hi Pasquale - this is normally done in the product settings, under 'shopping cart' section. You have the option to upload a picture there, in PNG, JPG or GIF format. The sizes of the image are controlled in the shopping cart configuration - for thumbnail and full size... list view, detail view and cart view. The image is resized in the browser - you do not upload three different versions. It is also possible to link to an image when you write the product description, since there is an editor with an image link function included.
