We need to shut down all payment processing - while still allowing log ins. I thought renewals only happen through the cron job. However, after shutting down the cron job, renewals are still happening. Our cron job normally ran at 2 am. However, I saw renewals go through at 5:55 am. That seems so odd and wrong. So now, I have removed authorize_cim from the modules and turned off emails but I want to make sure I kill the cc processing. Help me understand why stopping the cron did not kill the processing and what I need to do. I wish there was a global kill switch - and maybe there is, but I couldn't find it. I can 'take the whole site offline' but I don't want to do that.
In case of you use only authorize_cim then you just need to disable this plugin. Do you use any other payment plugins?
