Changing default search to include extra bricks

I have a registration form which includes a couple of extra bricks "School Name" and "Code". When browsing users in the admin, and I use the search in the top right, it doesn't seem to look at these two fields by default, I can search against them using the advanced search, but that's quite a slow approach.

Is there a way to customise what the default search queries?
