First off I have to admit...

We're using Paypal for our subscriptions.

We have a lot of existing clients on subscription. Recurring billing is all handled by Paypal.

They may be monthly or quarterly or even annual subscribers.

Occasionally we offer a sale. When we do we offer a special discount to buy an annual subscription. We get a lot of new subscribers this way.

When we offer a sale a lot of existing subscribers want to buy the annual membership at the discount. We don't have an automated way to do these upgrades.

What we'd like to do is allow the existing members to buy the annual subscription. We'd like to cancel their existing recurring billing with Paypal. We'd like to setup a new subscription with them for annual membership and it would recur annually.

If possible it would be even better if the new subscription took into account how much time they had left on their existing subscription and add 365 days to it.

The biggest issue is PayPal. If we were doing some of this stuff ourselves with our own CC processor we'd have more flexibility. Because we use PayPal we have limited options.

We're open to buying plugins if anyone has one.

I'm aware KenGary has an upgrade plugin but it doesn't work for PayPal.

    What options do we have?

We are planning to implement automated product upgrades in v.4.2.0
If subscription cancellation is impossible to automate, aMember will e-mail administrator about. If it is possible to automate, it will be done.

Would it cancel the existing paypal subscription and create a new one?

Are you using paypal regular or pro?

With regular the subscription payment is handled on the paypal system- so the only way to cancel is on the paypal site, amember couldnt do it.
