I created a fake signup to see how the process would be for my customer.

All is well, except that I get a red error box (text is black on red...should be white for readability) asking for the Membership Type. However, the membership type box is completely empty! There's nothing to choose from or write in. I've searched through the admin section and searched "Membership Type" but cannot find info on how to fix this problem. This stops the signup process, so it needs to be fixed.

    Any suggestions?

Have you modified the signup from default? (.css file, template files, etc)

Skippy, I've only edited info in the Amember owner area. I haven't altered any files manually (open .css and edit,etc.).

Where, in the Control Panel, do I correct this problem with the missing Membership Type?

Do you have any products created? You can create a product in your Admin CP -> Manage Products.

Have a link you can share and I can tell you for sure what's up.

Membership Type is simply the product name and description
Have you created any products yet.
Also if you have marked your products with a negative number in the Price ID group they wont show with a standard signup URL string and require additional information specifying what the Type is you want to display on the signup screen.
By the sound of your problem you wither have no Products set up or all of them have negative product ID groups

one thing I notice about the URL you provided is that it appears that amember is configured to point to https:// but no https:// version of your site exists on your server.

As a result your CSS and JS files are failing to load.

Admin CP -> Setup/Configuration -> Root URL / Secure URL

When I go to CP and click *anything on the left hand side*, I get a NOT FOUND error...

Suggestions to access the root URL?

HTTPS/CP issue solved...Once again, the folks at OneWorldHosting.com helped me solve the problem in a matter of minutes. LOVE being a customer of such a responsive company (oneworldhosting.com)!

    As for Amember products:
    - I have two products with Price ID 1 and 2, respectively.
    - No negative numbers

Despite fixing the above and having fixed the HTTPS/CP issue, the Membership Type area is still blank...yet it a response is required for the signup to take place: http://www.affirmingspirit.com/amember/signup.php

Why is the Membership Type area blank and how do I fix it?

I'm not thrilled about handing my passwords and logons to strangers...

...but in the meantime, I figured out what was causing the problem: SCOPE!
In the CP->Manage Products, I had misunderstood the meaning of SCOPE and had chosen only members can view. When I changed SCOPE to visible for all, the problem was fixed.

Thanks to Skippy and Calisolllc for at least making me feel like I wasn't totally alone in trying to solve the problems of setting up this software.
