Sell limited quantity of products?

We're looking to create a limited product to only 8 items, and this product will be only available to signed up members - they will see it in their dashboard.

The idea is that it will be offered on a first come, first served basis. So when all 8 items have been sold, the product will not show up in their dashboard, or possible show up but be disabled.

If we decide to re-offer it at a later date, we simply set a limit again.

Is this possible to do with aMember?

Theres currently no "limit plugin" for amember 4.x that I know of- but I think alex is developing one.

We've been thinking of a workaround by using the coupon field and limiting the number of times it can be used. But for that to work we'll need to force people to use the coupon field, which I am assuming we can?

And, we'll rename the coupon field to something like 'passcode'.

Do you think this approach will work in the interim?

I'd be interested in learning how/if you can force coupon use to limit product as well.

That sounds doable, you could create a custom signup form with the coupon code embeded in a "hidden" form field, or show the coupon code in the form.
