I did a forum search but couldn't find a comprehensive answer...

I currently use PayPal for payments. Members sign up, and are then redirected to PayPal's website to create a PayPal account (if they don't already have one) and then make the payment.

This is a turn-off for new customers because they may not want to create a PayPal account, get scared of being directed to a new website, etc.

So, I'd like to enable a checkout where people can make recurring payments by checking out on my website.

What are the best payment processors to do this?

You can use Paypal's PayFlow PRO (it is supported in latest versions), also have a look to Authorize.NET CIM Hosted version(currently this is best solution if you don't want to redirect user from your site for payment and don't want to mess with PCI compliance ).
