    Hey all, Any ideas on how I can set up a one time offer. The idea is use the a free sign up membership and then be taken to a OTO page and then to the main log in area or membership.

    Be Well

    Sounds GREAT I would love to see that too.

    Is it possible? It would be a huge hit!

    Alex, the OTO-setup would work EXACTLY like this site:
    http://www.butterflyriches.com

    Sign-up, via the "Free Registration" box at the bottom
    and you'll see this essential marketing tactic in operation.

    Also, login to your secured members areas and review
    the layout and options.

    You can use Pop ins

    Hi,

    I have used Pop ins (also called hover ads) to make OTO.

    I have XsitePro (which I recommend.. a LOT), and you can program any ammount of PopIns to be shown for one time only, or once per session, or always... whatever.

    You can use any other Hover ad creator, the idea is to create an ad in the free membership area that says ** don't close this window yet ** with information on the offer and a link to a more extenisve sales page or to the order form.

    You can check my site to see how I do this www.US-bank-non-residents.com

    It's a simple tip... that do the trick :)

    Regards,

    Jorge

    seems to me something new probably needs to be written so it integrates properly with aMember.

    Any thoughts Alex?

    Has there been any progress on whether or not this feature was looked into more?

    Jorge,
    I checked out your solutions, and we were going to use this, but the popovers were controlled by cookies per domain, and we've got a few different offers on the same domain, so once one offer was seen, the others never showed. But a good idea!

    Thanks,
    AT

    I'm afraid there are no points to implement this because popup blockers blocks 99% of popups in all modern browsers.

    It is anyway possible to open popups using some porno/hacking JavaScript techniques that needs to be changed very often.

    We are using OTO and LTO with amember

    http:\\www.meetingwiththemasters.com is the link and we have it setup in such a way that you see an One Time Offer as well as a limited time offer.

    If this is what you are interested in looking into creating a script that anyone can use to do the same.

    We are super busy at the moment but go through the signup process and see if it is what you are looking to do and if so send us a ticket at www.30ksupport.com and we will let you know when the script is done.

    Cheers

    Is there any new information on this as of yet?

    This would be a fantastic addition to the Amember system.

    I just got word from MeetingWithTheMasters support that informs me they will have a script available to do this in late April. It was offered (with some training) to a limited number (I believe) of people last month but that is now closed.

    Anyone else have any input on this here?

    Many thanks,

    Sam

    It would be an awesome addition indeed...

    I've been looking around for membership site software, and aMember has come out fairly high. The only thing that I can find wrong with it at the moment is that there does not seem to be a one time offer functionality.

    The one time offer functionality would certainly ad a lot to aMember. In fact, it would give me the motivation for going ahead and purchasing it - instead of Mike Filsaime's software that already does that.

    Hope to see it added real soon!

    I'm interested too. Im sick of hacking together parts of the picture, although I love Amember and Joomla working together, it seems the last cogs are elusive. Not being able to integrate seamlessly with Aweber sucks, but it can be gotten around by using a less restrictive service provider perhaps (one that accepts subscription by email).

    But the big thing for me is the OTO script integration!

    I checked out the MWTM site but saw no OTO in the signup process, so tim_erwa1 if you are still around, is there any news on that yet? I'm definitely keen to see what you come up wtih!

    OK, after much searching and sorting through files I have a solution that MAY work! BUT... only if you are using the 'free' payment plugin. This needs to be tested and looked at by someone with more experience in PHP than me, but it sounds ok.

    I looked at the files in the 'free' plugin folder and it looks like it processes the signup ok, and when the process has been finished it refers the user back to a local 'thanks.php' file.

    amember/plugins/payment/free/thanks.php

    That thanks.php file then only contains 2 lines. One that sets the 'paysys_id=free' which I presume tells the script which payment processor was used, and the other calls the Default 'thanks.php', which I assume is setting up the process of confirming the signup in Amember.

    My question is, is there a way to use the 'free/thanks.php' to call another php file, without breaking any critical processes? Or perhaps use this file in another way to achieve the same end? (maybe write a DHTML layer that Amember can use to process the default thanks.php file?)

    Dunno, but it is a slim chance there. Anyone with PHP skills want to take a look?

    [solved]

    OK, I got it to work perfectly using the 'free' plugin. Here's what I did:

    Find: amember/thanks.php

    Make a copy and name it: amember/thanks-free.php

    Edit: amember/plugins/payment/free/thanks.php

    Line 20:
    PHP:
    $paysys_id 'free';
    include
    "../../../thanks.php";
    to show:

    Line 20:
    PHP:
    $paysys_id 'free';
    include
    "../../../thanks-free.php";
    to point to the copied file as above.

    Edit: amember/thanks-free.php

    Line 89:
    PHP:
    $t->display("thanks.html");
    to show:

    Line 89:
    PHP:
    $t->display("oto.html");
    Create 'oto.html' and save to TEMPLATES folder: amember/templates/oto.html

    Insert content you want displayed to the visitor. Make sure you pay attention to the folder structure for imbedding images, creating links etc. Remember, it's essentially a 'template' file.

    Go into Amember Admin>Setup Configuration>Plugins and enable 'Free' plugin and configure.

    Create New Product to create subscription with price 0.0 and duration of 'lifetime subscription'.

    If you want to hide this from general visitors or traffic to your default signup.php page:

    Assign unique 'Price Group ID'

    Then go to your signup url with the unique price ID and sign up! You should go through and be processed as a 'free user'.

    The url that get's returned calls the free/thanks.php file from the free plugin folder:

    yoursite.com/amember/plugins/payment/free/thanks.php?payment_id=1384&vcode=etc

    This file then calls 'thanks-free.php' (which is a direct copy of the original so all functions still work), which then calls 'oto.html' and displays it as it's 'template'.

    You should now see your OTO offer and text.

    VOILA!! :) :) :)

    You should see the user in your Amember admin panel too, so go back to Admin and search users for the new user you just created to make sure it is there. Also, try logging in to your site with the username/password to make sure it works and the user has the assigned privileges you have set for free user to get.

    It works as an OTO because the user will never see 'free/thanks.php' ever again AND it will only display this specific configuration if the user signs up as a FREE user. Any paid subscribers will get the default setup.

    This works for me, but if you want to try it is an easy hack. Might be a good idea for a stand-alone plugin for Amember to develop.

    MAKE BACKUPS OF ALL FILES AND TEST FIRST!

    I don't know if it can be done for other types of subscribers, but it works for the free user plugin.

    DJ

    BTW: It just occured to me that you could probably do some awesome personalization using this technique as it is using the thanks.php system that already exists! So you should be able to bring your new subscribers name/email etc into the page and address them personally!

    Neat huh!
