Is it possible to manually add a product to a user in the amember admin dashboard? Or can an admin move a user from product A to product B without the user having to log in and "purchase" or select a product?
Yes, you can do it in admin interface at aMember CP -> Users -> Browse Users find desired user and edit him. You will be able to add access to products on tab Payments -> Invoices/Access

Okay, thanks. I tested it a bit more last evening and found a somewhat acceptable way of doing that. You add the new product as discussed, then for Action select Add Pending Invoice and Send Link to Pay It to Customer. It sends an invoice to the user via email with a link to the payment systen.
