does V4 require an SSL certificate in order to process payments using PayPal?
i have V4 installed, but the IPN data is not getting to the link on my website. Reading through the error logs i see this : Need OpenSSL support for https:// requests

However in my setup URL, i did NOT specify https I am only using http for both Root and Secure Root

Please contact your webhosting provider to compile PHP with Curl with SSL support. It will help.

You do not need SSL certificate, it is not required.

i have already enabled Curl with SSL, still not working..
now you are telling me i need OpenSSL to Registered Stream Socket Transports. (i dont even know what that means)

after going back and forth with my hosting compnay for over a week, i am told
"Please note that this is something that is beyond the scope of our suport"

so after 9 years of using amember, i guess i need to find something else, which is a real shame.
14 hours, 4 paid support sessions to godaddy and about 12 enmails to amember support.

I dont think that my situation is anything out of the normal, i am only using PayPal for payment system, i can imagine what will happen if i attempt payPal pro or any of the others...

does it make sense to need this many changes to my PHP to install this...
i have 4 other amember installations running without any problems..

No it will not solve your issue.

Need OpenSSL support for https:// requests means there is a request trying to use https: and OpenSSL is not functioning or installed on the server. GoDaddy is one of the worst hosting poroviders to have with errors like this.

GoDaddy will not help you and when they cannot figure it out or they just dont want to do it they give the standard reply of "Please note that this is something that is beyond the scope of our suport"
I went to HostGator 4 years ago and they work their butt off day or night I have never waited more than a few hours to have any issue resolve. Talk to them and if you do go with them just ask them to move your site for free for you. Trust me no more BS replies and your server will just work!
