Can't prevent the $1verification fee when offering a two week trial before starting a normal sub

I am offering a free two week trial before going into a normal sub if you sign up and give your CC info. The problem is, in 3.x using Authorize.net ad Authorize_CIM, I can't get it to do this without charging a $1 verification fee ... I have change the Validation methods in authorize_cim.inc.php from liveMode to testMode and even none and each time I do this and then go in and test again I am still get payment receipts for a $1, it's still sending me, the buyer, a receipt for $1 and temporarily showing up with the bank.

What's up with this? Ideas on how to fix?
