I thought I saw someone with the same problem, but can't find the forum thread now. I have a new installation of amember I plan to integrate with wordpress. I enabled the wordpress plugin through the amember admin and proceeded to configure it. After clicking save on the configuration form I can't get back into amember at all. The only way is to move the default/plugins/protect/wordpress folder to some other name. Obviously that's going to be a permanent solution since I need the wordpress plugin to work. At least with my theme, clicking the checkbox next to "Use Wordpress theme" caused the problem. I had to unserialize the amember config, disable the wordpress plugin, then update the config with the altered serialized config.
