I run aMember with my vBulletin forum. On vBulletin I can block certain names from being used as usernames during registration. Is there a way to do the same with aMember? Or does the blocking at vBulletin work via aMember? Or am I just out of luck?

    Thank you

I've found where I can add these names in aMember so please disregard original question...

    However I do have another...

    the description reads:
use * for substitutions, like admin*

Does that mean any username with admin as part of it will be blocked? For example would admin1 be blocked doing that?

    Thank you

Yes, admin1 would not be allowed to be created.

Another example I typically set in my environments is davidm* which blocks davidm1. ;-)

    Excellent thank you guys.

A further question on the same topic.

If I want to protect a current username from being added to and used can I add that into the denied username field with the * and any FURTHER uses would be denied? It shouldn't affect the current user correct?

I ask this because I've had an occasional issue in the past when someone wants to cause drama on the boards by registering a similar username. I'm just trying to block this as much as possible. I can always go in afterwards and change it but if I can minimize the attempt at start up I'd rather do that.

    Thank you for your help.

I believe that is the case, but best advice on that one is to test it!
