Hi have reinstalled amember and whenever I update information for the member or try to test the sign up page I get this error:

Cannot open /home/xxx/public_html/amember/data/.htgroup for write. Make directory /home/xxx/public_html/amember/data and this file writeable for PHP scripts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

This is just permissions, you need to find this directory: ( data)

/home/xxx/public_html/amember/data and this file writeable for PHP scripts.

and give it permissions of 777 (writable) so that Amember can write to it.

You may need to set permission for plug ins too

I have all the files it pointed out CHMOD'ed to 777, but I'm still getting:

Directory '/home/.../public_html/amember/data/new_rewrite/' is not writeable. Please fix it

Make sure all the directories in the path are set to 777
