Having vbulletin.domain.com is no problem. You will want to avoid putting aMember on a subdomain as it can create issues with creating cookies for other subdomains. ie. domain.com/amember = can create cookies for domain.com and *.domain.com amember.domain.com = should only create cookies for amember.domain.com
yes I would recommend putting amember in a subfolder of your root domain (example:domain.com/amember)
