using a different form page to enter users

my client already has an interface to input new users that they are very accustomed to, and would like to use amember's protection features w/o switching over to their interface. Has anyone does this before? Basically using your own table for member info, or re-directed the amember_member table integrated into your own front-end?

If so, please let me know. I'm dying over here!

I would not recommend anyone to do it. This way is full of trouble.
You replace easy task (customize amember signup page) with LOT more complicated task.
