User Login Info Script

Any body know of a good script to show your users whether or not they're logged in? I don't know dick about PHP, I just wanna stick this info near my login form in my HTML.

"You are logged in as..."

"You are not yet logged in"


etc....

It cannot be done with plain HTML.
It is possible to do if your page is PHP or SHTML (SSI page)
